Healer's Guild

The Guild for the Rational Assessment of Psi, popularly known as the Healer's Guild, was founded 147 years ago on Corionis VI within the Spin System?. The Guild welcomed all Psi's willing to come forward, provided they were willing to agree to uphold a code of ethical conduct, and invited any scientist interested in studying this new phenomena to work with them in furthering the understanding of Psi throughout human dominated space. Their goals initially seemed quite lofty for a small organization founded on the tail end of the Perseus Spiral, but the Guild itself expanded rapidly up the Arm and then exploded down the Orion Spur and throughout the Carina-Sagittarius Arm as well. By far the dominant Psionic Faction within the Old Galactic Zone, the Guild divides its efforts between the study of Psi (focusing on Application, rather than Theory), the benevolent use of Psi, and policing Rogue Psi's. Most developed worlds within the Pan-Orion Spur have Guild Offices, and they maintain a very respectable showing in both the Carina-Sagittarius Arm and their birthplace in the Perseus Arm.

What The Guild Can Do For You

  • Psionic Testing is still a uncertain science, but the scientists working for the Guild have found several markers that might indicate latency in neutrals, and claim that they're "very close" to being able to engineer these abilities into the next generation. The Esper's working for the Guild also do periodic scans of settled space, looking for new talents even in far flung locations not near any Guild Office.
  • Free Clinics are such a large part of the Guild that most simply refer to it as the "Healer's Guild". In addition to the Guild's skilled Biokinetics, each facility holds a veritable army of Doctors possessed of the best equipment the Guild can provide. More specialized services can also be provided, everything from Telepaths erasing traumatic memories or assisting in personality reconstruction, to the guidance of noted Espers.
  • Philanthropic Action takes the Guild to the less settled parts of the Galaxy, the places where people struggle to survive at all. In addition to sweeping for new talents, such missions often take on a Philanthropic tone with the Guild providing both mundane an psionic aid to those that are in need. Often all it takes is a visit by a Guild Expedition to completely change a world's view on Psi and those blessed with such gifts!
  • Understanding and Acceptance is offered to any Psi who chooses to come to a Guild facility. A Psi that wears the Guild's Badge knows what your dealing with and is there to help you master your abilities, understand them, and use them in an upright and moral fashion to create a better universe for everyone - Psi and Neutral alike! Many newly active Psi's trust the Guild to provide them a easy transition into their new life. Many go on to become full Guild members themselves!
  • A Firm Hand when it's needed, to guide the lost back to the path. Though membership in the Guild is not required, nor is strict adherence to its moral directives, the Guild will not tolerate Rogue Psi's who act to widen the divide between Psi and Neutral. Most planetary governments are happy to allow the Guild to handle such individuals, 74.5% of which go on to live happy and productive lives without ever again running into such moral difficulties.

The Guild's Code

No Guild Member should use his powers on another without their consent, except when compelled otherwise by society which wishes to benefit from a Member's powers or the individual circumstance of another who is unable to give that consent. A Guild Member obeys all reasonable laws and regulations concerning the practice of Psionics, and works to change unreasonable laws or regulations from within his Society, not in spite of it. All Guild Members should strive to present a face of restraint and self-control to non-Psi's in every circumstance. A Guild Member should always aid another Psi who is in need, especially other Guild members. No Guild Member should use his or her Psionic Powers for personal gain, but instead for a fair price or without any expectation of reward, as his or her own circumstances dictate.
