⚠ <p>Aiden surfaces back to consciousness, her sire Francois Chaffee standing over her. Chaffee tells her that it would be best if the Death Shroud wasn't destroyed. He tells her of the last time he saw it used. During the reign of Edmund Ryecroft, Irving DeSeversky and Jon areson used it to stop a sabbat incursion. He related as if a prophecy something Irving said to areson that the next time that happened they wouldn't be there, only childer. he then left:
⚠ <p>The others began to awaken. As Manfred opened his eyes he immedieately remembers the mist sliding into the vault. As the only kindred he is aware of to demenstrate that particular power are JT and Chaffee, he askes Aiden who was already awake what had happend.
⚠ <p>Aiden realates to the group that her sire had come and told the rest what he said.
⚠ <p>JT and Jenny immediately begin to rip into Chaffee's story and attack his motivations and credibility. Aiden defends Chaffee a bit and points out that Jenny and JT's memory of said event wasn't perfect either since they may not have been there for the whole thing.
⚠ <p>This reprompted a discussion about what it was that we should do with the tapestry. Which was quite frustrating for most of the kindred there. After a bit we decide that for the moment it would be best to hide the tapestry and continue getting infromation about it. Randolph suggest the rest of the conversation not happen in the presence of Straus. He volunteers to take Straus and Remove the tip of the stake from his heart. JT helps Randolph to his car with straus and the group split up a bit. Mai goes with Randolph, JT, Jenny, and Aiden go to fort detroit to hide the tapestry and find Usuri. Manfred goes the second consecration ritual at the Royal Oak chantry
⚠ <p>Mai and Randolph stop at the hospital so Randolph can retrieve surgical tools necasary to extract the stake tip that has burrowed to straus' heart and revive him. The go to a suitable location to perform said precedure and get some take out food for him as he will come to conscoiusness very hungery. after a lengthy and gory surgery randolph succeeds. Straus awakens and devours his food. He immediatly flees leaving Mai and Randolph to dispose of his food. On his way out he flips Randolph's car over.
⚠ <p>JT, Aiden and Jenny find thier way to Fort Detroit. After searching they find Archimedes old court. they seek to put the shroud in a hidden chamber in the poedium. Much to thier surprise they find The Book. JT notices the shroud (the Tapestry) getting warmer, this incites panic. JT pulls it out and starts to once again try to close it, Jenny throws the book at the tapestry, which goes right through it and hits JT in the head. She rushes over takes the book out of the plastic it is in and tries again this time it goes into the tapestry.
⚠ <p>Manfred at this point is in a taxi on his way to the Royal Oak chantry. He feels a great push and pain in his head. He feels the Ley lines around Detroit flex. He looks into the sky and sees what would best be described as an aura borialis. Immediately he calls Jenny assuming the others have something to do with this, maybe they tryed to destroy the shroud and something bad happened. he isn't able to get through to her. Instead he calls Mai.
⚠ <p>At about this time, Mai is doing the majority of the work of pushing Randolph's car back upright. All of this, of course, AFTER debating with Randolph what to do with the body. Randolph suggested briefly trying to save the human, but Strauss didn't allow Randolph to grasp her and Mai also told Randolph that he had to let it go at some point. Randolph had the idea of putting the body into the river, and Mai, while disgruntled with this idea, did not know what else to do with the body, so she agreed and they put the body into the trunk after flipping over the car.
⚠ <p>In the meantime, Mai received a call from Manfred asking her what the hell just happened and to look up. Mai did not see anything, but Manfred then asked that she and Randolph go and find the others to see if they knew what happened. And since Fort Detroit is near the river...
⚠ <p> Manfred arrives at the Royal Oak chantry to find his clan mates gathered and prepared to perform the ritual. Christian Moross greats him at the door. As they enter Abraham Stearn tells Manfred that the ley lines have been disturbed. He is a bit indecisive, but determines that untill the disturbance is found the clan should wait to perform the ritual. Abraham says that it may be neccasary to consult other higher in the pyramid about the disturbance.
⚠ <p>Manfred tries again to call Jenny to no avail. He gets a cab and heads to fort Detroit now convinced they have something to do with all this.
⚠ <p>Randolph and Mai show up at Fort Detroit. We are greeted by JT, Aiden, and Jenny. Randolph motions in the trunk for JT to help get the body out while Mai explains that Manfred is quite pissed about something and asks them what they did while away.
⚠ <p>Manfred at this time shows up right in time for the explanation that Jenny, JT, and Aiden found The Book and decided to throw it into The Tapestry which apparently caused all the fireworks. It's no use asking their reasoning in this or having any useful conversation because Manfred is currently screaming at the others that the Tremere now know about some disturbance and are thinking of bringing in the higher ups to look into it. He points how incredibly stupd this was. Especially since there has been so much resistance to having Tremere involvement. Jenny, Mai and Aiden back up, believing he is on the verge of imminent frenzy.
⚠ <p>Mai halts the frenzy by demanding the parties calm down and Aiden then calms things down further by suggesting that Manfred go back to the Tremere and simply say he knows what caused the disturbance and it was a small group of kindred following the prince's orders. Manfred agrees since there is little else that can be done. I surmisses it could be simple to say the group was trying to destroy the tapestry and failed.
⚠ <p>Manfred breaks off to use his phone. He calls Abraham and to tell him he believes he knows what happened. Abraham instructs Manfred to meet him at the Gaurdian Building.
⚠ <p>Mai gets antsy and asks if now would be a good time for her and Randolph to go to the morgue to try and find Qasi and it is agreed.
⚠ <p>Shortly after leaving with Randolph, Mai receives a phone call from Winston saying he missed her at the salon earlier in the evening and that her and her friends presence is requested with the prince... NOW. Winston also indicates that Qasi was present at the meeting and that Mai should beware.. he might be tainted. Not knowing what exactly that means, Mai contacts the other members of the coterie to inform them of the pending meeting.
⚠ <p>When Mai and Randolph arrive at the Gaurdian building, Aiden, JT, and Manfred are the only others present. Mai realizes Jenny must not have been with them and calls Jenny to request her presence as well. The rest of the group goes into the building to a meeting including the prince, Winston Mac Donald?, Winston Adonis, Philip Carlson, and Kent Atwater.
⚠ <p>The Prince makes some inquiries into the status of the group's little quest and finding that they were unable to destroy the Tapestry, indicates that Reginald Meric contacted him (though the prince does not use his name) indicating that the tapestry holds some arcane purpose and should not be destroyed. The Prince now suggests taking it far from Detroit.
⚠ <p>Mai questions this, not wanting to interfere with the domains of other princes and our prince gets more specific by indicating that the great lakes might be a good place to deposit it.
⚠ <p>Mai does not remember much of what happened next... all overshadowed in her mind by the next part she DOES remember the prince saying, which is that Qasi was indeed at the salon as a performer with another kindred... a different kindred... nurse spencer.
⚠ <p>The prince then asks, as if to toy with us, what should be done with Marcellus since the nurse indicates he is innocent. Clearly, the prince says, we cannot allow him to stay here, but he may be returned to New Orleans where the prince there puts up with such heinous acts. Nurse Spencer is called before us now to plead Marcellus's case and again request he be allowed to go... that he knew nothing about the tapestry and his intentions were not what actually happened last night.
Manfred argues that the tapestry holds an old Malkavian and surely Marcellus knew this and knows more than he is saying.
⚠ <p>Nevertheless (as if our opinion doesn't matter anyway... which it doesn't} The prince says to Nurse Spencer that she and Marcellus will be allowed to leave on the proverbial next plane out.
⚠ <p>Randolph next says something which JT interprets wrongly, and JT says to the prince that Randolph would like to interrogate Marcellus before he leaves. The prince allows this. Manfred suggests that someone go with Randolph to ensure his saftey and the Prince agrees.
⚠ <p>Winston Mac then drives us in a limo to the sheritan. As we leave the Gaurdian Building, we pick up Jenny Olson, who is incredibly late and disgruntled at having to join us.
⚠ <p>The sheritan is surprisingly free of people, and we are led to a room where Marcellus is. Aiden stays outside and the rest of us enter to partake in the questioning.
⚠ <p>A lot of questions are asked to Marcellus, less like an interrogation and more like a conversation. What is your purpose? Whose in the black ooze? What would have been a full success? What are your plans next? And Marcellus asks a few questions too of Randolph, again bringing up the business proposal. Mai then asks a few quick questions (really all she can muster, being petrified and all) why did he follow and why was Qasi taken? The nurse indicates Qasi was not taken but persuaded and that Mai "can have him back" as he was no use to her.
⚠ <p>Having what she wanted, Mai asks no more questions though several more are surely racing through her head. They leave the room and meet Aiden. Jenny murmurs something but that ends with "but it might offend Mai". Mai demands to know what it was and Jenny repeats that Mai's ghoul is fucked. Mai agrees. Jenny says she's sorry and Randolph offers his mind-wiping expertise should Mai need it.
⚠ <p>Forgetting about the Tapestry or the prince's next directive to us, Mai excuses herself from the group saying she's sure they understand why she must spend the night at home this night.
As people left to hail their respective cabs, a family walked through the hotel lobby. The boy stopped and walked over to our group and said "thank you for helping me. I am closer to escape than ever." (or something like that).
