Mandate Of Heaven
The Empire is the largest and most powerful political body in the world, benefiting from strong leadership and a core of powerful warriors, it has spread over the world and absorbed all the cultures that its come across. The Emperor is the ruler of all under Heaven, overseeing the rule of the known world with the aid of the 29 Great Clans? and a massive Eunuch Bureaucracy?. The Empire itself is split into Provinces?, each with its own identity and culture, with Capital? serving as the Empires center - spiritually if not literally. While most of the known world has fallen under the aegis of the Empire, a few Outlying Nations? linger on its borders.
The Empire rules over most of Europe (a dangerous and twisted landscape, marked by the impact of an ancient meteorite swarm), the Steppes (the most traditionalist part of the Empire, and by far the most backwater), Asia (the heart of the Empire, home to Capital itself near what is present-day China, now hugely multi-cultural and influenced by that diversity), and the Americas (the most progressive part of the empire, influenced by the ongoing Industrial Revolution that is reshaping the world).
Major rivals of the Empire include Africa (a land of warring kingdoms who worship the Earth Mother), India (a twisted land of corrupt chi and evil sorcery, long poised near the Empire's heart), the British Isles (a dark and isolated corner of the world, largely ignored) and the Empire's Greatest Rival in South America (a corrupt empire ruled by sorcery and at the head of the worlds Industrial Revolution - the most technologically advanced place on Earth).
South-East Asia and Oceania is widely considered a dangerous and even primordial place, still infested with a lot of the original chaotic Chi that originally infested the world after its creation. It's home to a lot of vast sea monsters and other horrible threats, many of which find their homes on the vast land of Australia, which is also home to the mighty Dragons? and those humans they protect.
