The Cabal got its start off in Salt Lake City, where they were one of a handful of Pentacle Cabals existing /far underground/, fighting the "good fight" against the Ministry of the Paternoster. Of course, fighting the Seer's in their backyard,-- right under the Nose of the Minister,-- is dangerous work and a few years back most of the Cabal had perished... after an encounter with one of the Seer's Tulpa, "artificial angels" drunk on Prayers of the Faithful, leaving the Cabal in no small amount of disarray.

Melchior, who had taken over for the previous leader of the City and helped to initiate two new Mages into the Group, decided the time was right to get the hell out of dodge and set up shop somewhere else. It was that or bury his other friends, all for a fight that they weren't going to win. They came to Miami-Globe because of the presence of the Seer's in the area and have been kicking the hornet's nest pretty much since they arrived.

Members of the Cabal

  • "Grizzled Veterans", originally coming from Salt Lake City,--
    • Melchior (Obrimos, AA/SL) is the Leader and Warden of the Cabal. Originally from Salt Lake City, in charge of the "War Effort" against the Seers.
    • Jebediah Rothman (Mastigos, Silver Ladder), scarred guerilla from SLC with lots of knowledge of Seer strategy/tactics there, especially Tulpa/Astral stuff; lost most of his family.
    • Prentis Rothman (Obrimos, Silver Ladder), awakened after the death of his parents at the hands of the Seers. Very idealistic and devoted to the goals of the Ladder; Jeb's little brother.
    • Mary-Jane Rothman (Obrimos, Adamantine Arrow), young Mormon Faithful who grew up under the thumb of the Paternoster in SLC -- rescued by Melchior; Jeb's wife.
      • Mary-Jane awoke after an encounter with a Tulpa, and is the youngest member of the Cabal; shaping herself into a weapon against the Seers.
  • "New Blood," recruited and trained locally
