The Tri-Khan

The current Tri-Khan, Yejouj Khan, has made it into his 50s and is one of the cities most successful rulers in recent history,--

  • Under the current Khan, the city has enjoyed higher prosperity and the spectre of war has been kept at bay.
    • The last major war that the Delzahn were involved in was over 50 years ago, with the Varang,-- this doesn't count isolated border skirmishes and raiding by the Nomadic Clans.
    • Yejouj is an especial friend of the Delzahn Farmers, which has earned him some enmity from his nomadic kin, but which has finally made the city self-sufficient.
  • The Tri-Khan has 9 wives, six from the cities Major Clans and three from the strongest Nomadic Clans, who together rule as a solid block.
    • the current 'Head Wife' is Sharia, of Clan Hosan, who rules over the rest of the wives with grace and care-- most believe the 43 year old has Yejouj wrapped around her thumb--
      • While generally fond of her husband, Sharia herself prefers the company of women, and focuses on matters of clan and politics--
      • Sharia's oldest son, Tahane, is generally considered the favorite successor to the Khan, should the unthinkable happen and he pass.
    • Few outside of the Court ever actually see the Tri-Khan's wives, but the influence and power they wield over the City is... considerable..
      • In general, consider the Wives to have Influence 3-4 singularly, depending on their individual standing. As a bloc, the Harem wield Influence 5.
    • The current "Sequester Solars... the ones that can be Trusted not to betray us, who are discrete enough not to draw too much attention," plan is the brainchild of Fekah, the Khan's "youngest" wife.
      • Fekah is widely-regarded as one of the cities Most Beautiful Women, she married the Tri-Khan some 5-years ago and has been steadily gaining influence within the Harem.
      • Initiated into Sorcery at the knee of her Mentor-and-Lover, a powerful Ifrit Lord, Fekah will retain the flower of her youth until the day she dies... but is, in actuality, the oldest of the Tri-Khan's wives.

The Nobility

There are a LOT of Delzahn "Nobles";-- this is because one of the requirements of the Nobility in the city is "you have to take care of the Salt Lines that keep Chiaroscuro and its Shadow separate,"-- the Delzahn have very strong taboo's against the dead and the Nobility are how they act as a control on this. It's every Nobles' responsibility to maintain the wards that keep the Shadowlands at bay, and many Nobles go into such fields as Exorcism and/or become Ghost-Hunters.

(It's worth noting that, except for a few wealthy families, the Tri-Khan provides most of the Salt that is used to maintain the wards. The Nobles graciously accept this gift from their "relative", ignoring the fact that most of them wouldn't be able to easily afford the amount of salt that is needed to keep the wards...
